Avien expertly settles himself low to the ground, spreading his weight evenly as he creeps forward, staying shielded from sight by the modest underbrush. The leafy canvas protects his dented but still glistening armour from betraying him from spying eyes as his Draconic pupils take in his surroundings.

[Dungeonmaster]

Across the glade Aviens sharp dragon eyes spot the huddle shapes of kobolds, leaned over the water. There are at least 4 of them visible from his position in the light woods. He raises his hand in attempt to alert his allies, but before he can Gutwrench bursts from the trees.

"There isn't anything here guys...... just a stupid river"

At the sudden booming noise of Gutwrenches voice the kobolds rise from their position. With gleaming eyes they turned weapons ready, upon the poor gnome.

The loud gnome continues complaining about the lack of kobolds, all the while the scaled beasts rush towards him.

Roll initiative!

Xavier is not impressed with this gnome.

Carric is shocked at what should by now be an entirely predictable course of events, and takes a moment to ready himself for the upcoming fight.

With a vow of recompense for his abysmal performance in their last battle with these creatures, Avien prepares to punch through the line of enemies with bloody glee.

With the Kobolds charging the group, the memory of being cut down quickly flashes in Alzor mind. "Time to forget about that" Alzor mumbles to himself and prepares for battle.

Kobold Lair

As Gutwrench stomps loudly into the open area by the stream the kobolds rise almost as one. Over a dozen kobolds are relaxing by the river side, they quickly reach for their weapons as they look towards the confused gnome.

"OH..... I GUESS THERE IS SOMETHING HERE GUYS....." shouts Gutwrench at the sight of so many kobolds.

Still hidden in the trees the rest of our heroes prepare themselves for the battle to come.

Avien leaps to his feet and dashes forward to confront the dragonshield foe and with a primal roar, unleashes a torrent of lightning that surges forth from his maw. The lightning is unfocussed, however, and destroys the nearby turf surrounding the kobold foes, dealing no injury to them.

Shaking his head at how loud such a small creature could be, Alzor proceeded to launch a magic missile at one of the minions closing in on Gutwrench.

Carric rushes to get between Gutwrench, and the closest minion, hoping to thin the numbers of the pests, before turning to the more durable enemies. In his rush he nearly trips over the shaft of his spear, and misses the kobold.

"Looks like I'll be doing all the dirty work again" Xavier thought to himself as he scanned the mass of Kobolds around him and watch his companions fumbling with their weapons. The slinger looked like it could be a bit of a pain, so Xavier sent a shuriken its way, leaving a deep gash that began to seep blood, and moved back to cover the wizard.

Kobold Lair Suprise Round

Seeing the armored Giant Avien surging from the thickets of trees the Kobold Dragonshield quickly backpedaled away from him. Turning he slashed his short sword out at Gutwrench. Gutwrench however, finally alerted to the Kobolds presence deftly ducked beneath the blade.

The many unarmored kobolds rushed forward, holding their light shields before them. They closed from both the North and the South, From the North a rain of Javalins fell upon Both Carric and Gutwrench, as a small handful of kobolds advanced to clash with shield and spear. Gutwrench found himself unable to move in time as both of the Javelins cut through his cloak, cutting deeply into his flesh. Pressed by two kobolds, Carric found his defences opened, a swift stab of the spear just barely missing his midriff!

From the South the Kobolds surged into the Woods, unable to find any foes, they turned their attention on Avien. Several of the Javalins bounced harmlessly off of Aviens heavy armor, but one flew high and drew a small scratch across his scaly face. Two of the Kobolds charge across the shallow river, shields held before them and spears held high. Effortlessly Avien swatted the first of the foes away, but the second with a cry to Tiamet and to Irontooth, crashed into the Dragonborn, striking him hard enough to buckle his trustworthy Armour.

In the chaos, a white vial flies through the air towards Carric, it misses its mark however and crashes onto the rocky terrain, spreading a white gluey substance.

After his intitial attack Xavier rests against a tree a moment, pleased to have gravely wounded one of the kobolds already, however his respite is short lived as a Kobold with a spear, bursts throght the trees to attack him. Caught off guard even the protection of the forest could not protect him as the spear rammed through the cuff of his shirt pinning hiim to the tree!

From the trees, rushed forth 5 kobolds bloodthirstly towards Gutwrench and Carric. Before them, in a circle of pale blue light stood a lone armoured knight. Avien raised his Axe at the charging Kobolds. "You shall not pass to harm my friends, your days of blood thirsty tyranny end here". The kobolds, uncaring set upon him, but his God was with Avien. Set upon on all sides, he blocked and defended himself from the worse of the attacks, when the spears found breaks in his defenses, his trusty armour took the brunt of the blows. Even so, Avein could feel the dull pain of several bruises beginning to form, he could not keep this up forever.

The fight between Carric and the kobolds continued, with their spears the kobolds continued to try to press their advantage. Carric began to flag as several of their attacks struck home. Carric was pushed to his back, bumping into Gutwrench, who for some reason was cackling malicioulsy.

A shout rose up from the woods, "Boyz get over here I found some of them!", with the shout a few of the kobolds began to quickly pick their way through the broken terrain towards the commotion.

Gutwrench, seeing the chaos erupting all around him as the Kobolds surround his companions begins to feel moderately responsible for the whole situation... slightly. He circles the Kobold Dragonshield, keeping his eyes locked on the creature. Once he's back to back with Avien, he utters to him... "Hey, dragon breath... get out of the way!"

His eyes begin to glow orange with fire.

Catching the maniacal glint of manifested rage within Gutwrench's eyes, Avien breaks into a loping stride, regardless of the javelins piercing through his armour and into his sides. Whirling his axe about him in a complex and mesmerizing fashion while invoking a prayer to his goddess, his form becomes outlined with the eerie god-light associated with his order. The light travels along his form, flowing down the length of his arms, causing the outline of his goddess's face to smile as Aviens roar challenged the dragonshield in front of him before bashing the decorated shield front into the enemies form. The light encasing the shield clings to the kobodls clothing and skin like ichor as Avien quickly slashes in a supreme downwards arc, cleanly cutting into the rat like creatures bony frame. Murmuring his thanks, he tears the javelins from his side, invoking her glorious name to make him well as the god-light sprang forth in tandem with his blood from the wounds at his sides, beginning the process of knitting closed his flesh.

The kobold rushed towards Alzor, but before he could reach him he was smote with an orb of arcane force. He was blasted into a nearby tree where he lay smoking.

With his allies around him the kobold near Xavier began to feel enboldened, surrounding him with one of his allies he struck out against him, but Xavier managed to use the forest to his advantage, using a tree for cover the kobolds thrust missed his flesh and he instead found his weapon embedded in a tree stump.

With a shout, the slinger let loose another ceramic globe, this time it flew above Carrics head, moving directly towards Gutwrench, it fell woefully short however, smashing into a boulder away from the melee, releasing some sort of strange green gas. It was quickly dissipated by the light breeze.

Signalling Castor to get into position to follow up his attack, Carric jabs his spear at the Dragonshield, hoping to take it out of the fight, or cripple it between the two of them. Unfortunately, his attack drove the kobold back a step at exactly the wrong moment, and both the half-elf, and the wolf fail to capitalize on their attacks.

Xavier shifted out from between the kobolds and noticed the shield bearing kobold in a compromising position. Taking the opportunity for a sneak attack, Xavier turn to throw a shuriken, but tripped on a root and dropped his shuriken, which fell onto a rock and broke.

Desperatly the Kobold Dragonshield attacked Avien, but he could find no purchase as the Dragonborns armour and shield protected him from harm.

Working in tandem, two of the kobolds moved to surround Carric. Surrounded Carric attempted to guard himself, but one of the koblds managed to sneak a blow through, the butt end of his spear painfully connecting with his back.

Gutwrench smiled sadistically at the sight of the crisped trees and kobolds. Some of the forest still smouldered from his firey attack, thinking his job done he turned his back, a moment too soon however as a single kobold burst from the trees, his skin still smoking from Gutwrenches assault, he raised his spear high as he charged. Gutwrench caught sight of him and tried to backpedal away, but he was too late the spear managed to pierce him, however slight and a trickle of blood began to stain his cloak.

A lone kobold approached Alzor, with a giggle he said "Hehehe man has no armour, no way to stop my pokey stick, I see what colour come out when I poke you!" With a cry the kobold charged toward Alzor, thinking quick Alzor charged at the kobold, throwing him to the ground before he could attack.
