Post  Gutwrench Fizzlebottom on Fri Jul 06, 2012 9:23 pm

The ground begins to swirl before Gutwrench... these little lizards were tougher than they looked. Luckily, he had more tricks up his sleeve. Immediately upon being struck by the kobold, he vanished.
With a moment to collect himself, he allowed the rage to empower him. The blood pulsed in his veins and he was more determined than ever to crush these enemies. Although he didn't realize it, thin, ethereal scales had covered his skin.

While still invisible, Gutwrench rushes towards the kobold that had so rudely interrupted his scaled compadre. With a frightening, high pitched scream, he attacked. Holding his arms wide, he emits a spray of liquid fire.

Burning Spray vs Reflex: 1d20+3 -2 13 A hit!
1d8+6 14

The fire engulfs the kobold, not only killing him, but completely stripping the flesh from his bones, leaving a few tiny, charred bones where he once stood.

Gutwrench held his hands in the air and cackled maniacally...

Immediate action: Fade away (Invisibility in response to damage)
Immediate action: Scales of the Dragon (+2 AC when bloodied)

Alzor then turns towards the enemy attacking Avien and launches an acid arrow at him. In the heat of the battle the attack misses but due to the nature of the spell some acid still splashes the Kobold Dragonshield.

Pulling back the bulk of his weight from Alzor`s distressingly close acid arrow and noting the use of Gutwrench`s vomit like technique, he curls back his scaled head and roars with the pride of a dragons get! A light seems to shimmer within Aviens draconic eyes as he stares at the kobolds before him. "Dragonshield?! No creature prevails before the might of a wyrm!" and at the end of his statement his voice seems to coil as the light within his eyes begins to similarly crawl up his maw. Unhinging his jaw momentarily for, coils of lighting erupt forth from this small, dragon-like beast to quickly close the distance to the kobolds. Bathing them in a torrent of elemental lighting, avien uses his tongue to cut the stream as the attack nears its end, and refastens his jaw as would a snake. The kobolds before him, though not dead, have all their prickly hairs standing up on edge and light wafts of smoke lift from their body.

Post  Carric Eladar on Sun Jul 08, 2012 5:11 am

Carric permits himself a grim smile as he turns toward the two kobolds that are still close at hand. Truthfully, he'd barely registered the missile that had dealt with the first one, and now, with just two left he had to stop himself from becoming overconfident. The fight was turning in his and his companions favour, but it was certainly not yet done.

Carric lashes out toward one of the minions... And catches it in the throat, killing it. And leaving an impressive mess for such a scrawny creature.

Kobold Brigands Round 3.5

Spoiler:

Notes
Illumination: Bright Light
Boulders: provide cover(+4 AC) if they are in your line of sight. Boulders are 5 feet high. Climing onto a boulder requires a DC 15 Athletics check and costs 20feet of movement. A character ontop of a boulder can move to another boulder as if moving on difficult terrain.
Foilage: (The thick green grass) Provide normal cover for those attacking from or into the area, they are difficult terrain.

SUPER SPECIAL NOTE

The Kobolds all have an ability called Shifty it is a once per round immediate interupt if you end a move in an adjacent square they will shift backward one square. This means that you can not do a normal move +attack. You can charge, as they then shift after you hit. Or you can have someone else move in and hit them after they first shifted.
The kobolds surrounding Carric though much reduce in numbers continue their assault upon him. Spears flash in the air as they attempt to overwhelm him with their numbers.
One of the kobolds dodges aside from Aviens wave of draconic fury, after Aviens attack finally abates, both kobolds rush at Avien at once.

"Die cursed Dragonborn, you are no true sons of dragons nononononono, we Kobolds are who serve the dragons!, or Irontooth, who is as mighty as 10,000 dragons!"

Avien smacks one of the blades aside with the shield, trusting his thick armour to stop the second. The kobolds step back, a hint of trepidition in the air, where both of their attacks where unable to even scratch the stalwart paladin.

Spoiler:

: 2#1d20+8 20 12 Both Miss!

After the attack one of the kobolds bends over unleashing a torrent of vomit from the poison coursing his body, you see his small frame shudder as he trys to fight it, but inevetably Alzors poison is too strong for him to ressist.

2 poison Damage to KDS 2
Spoiler:
: 1d20 8 Fail to Save!

Kobold bodies strew the area around Cavics feet, looking at his fallen comrades the kobold lets out an ear piercing cry as he charges at you with his spear. Carric easly side steps the attack as the kobolds charge simply sends him flying past.

: 1d20+4 13 A miss!

Re: Keep on the Shadowfell

Post  Gutwrench Fizzlebottom on Mon Jul 09, 2012 12:37 pm

Seeing the bodies of the kobolds lying all around him, Gutwrench began to feel reinvigorated. From behind him, he heard a gurgle as Carric mercilessly slaughtered another of the kobolds that had surrounded him. The two real remaining threats were the more heavily armored kobolds that had done damage to Gutwrench earlier. It was time for revenge.

With a high pitched scream, Gutwrench raised his dagger over his head and charged the kobold that had recently been vomitting.

Ensorcelled Blade vs AC: 1d20+6 13 Miss!

Despite his terrifying assault, the recklessness of his charge causes Gutwrench to miss the kobold entirely, the dagger's crackling blade cutting through only the air. Surprised by the fierce cry emitted by the small gnome, the other dragonshield takes a short hop backwards.

Avien noted the momentary distraction granted him by Gutwrench's assault on the dragonshields turned back. A trail of light imbues the head of Aviens warhammer as he attempts to strike at the back of the kobold. The strike, however, is heavy handed and Avien loses his balance momentarily causing his swing to fall short of the kobolds exposed back.

Carric spares a quick glance at the antics going on behind him, and hopes that the dragonsheilds aren't able to capitalize on his companions pratfalls, and that the aura of clumsiness does not spread to himself as he prepares to attack the final kobold minion. After his spear smashes his enemies rib cage he turns his focus more intently on what his companions have been up to.

Kobold Brigands Round 5.5

Spoiler:

With the sound of Carric disposing of the final kobold behind the boulders, the two dragonshields move with deadened eyes towards Gutwrench. You see fear in their eyes, but on these kobolds fight. No more quips no more jabs. Together again they strike at Gutwrench, both of them moving slow enough to dodge out of the way with ease. Holy fire surrounds the already sickened creature, burning at his flesh. Together with the poison coursing through his veins, he slowly drops to one knee, the other kobold scrambles to help his ally to his feet and he rises unsteadly, short sword hanging limply at his side.

Seeing the kobold drop to his knees, Gutwrench decides to take his revenge now upon the other, more healthy reptile. The other wouldn't last much longer anyways. Shooting a quick telling glance at Xavier, Gutwrench slides over slightly to position himself in front of the kobold. With a flick of his wrist, he raises his dagger, electricity crackling across the blade.

Gutwrench moves to H7!
Ensorcelled Blade vs AC: 1d20+8 26 Hit!
1d4+6 8 damage!

He drives his tiny dagger into the creature's thigh, and the wound crackles and smokes. Magical energy fills the kobold's body, and his hair begins to stand on end, as the electricity courses through his body, threatening to shock him again should he direct his attacks against the gnome.

With any luck, the mysterious rogue would now be able to show Gutwrench what he was made of.

Move: G7 to H7
Standard: Ensorcelled Blade on KD 1- Marked! Kobold Dragonshield 1 will take 3 damage if he hits or misses Gutwrench on his next turn.

Avien takes quick stock of the fallen kobold before him, Xavier to his right, and Gutwrench now quickly positioned behind the remaining dragonshield. Invoking the Red knights prayer for good health with the uppercut like fashion of his swinging warhammer, the head of the weapon caves into the frontal portion of the little kobolds chest armor, a satisfying crunch sound revealing the shattering of several ribs. As the hammer leaves the meager form of the kobold, the divine light sheathing the hammer head flows to encompass Avien, forming a thin membrane of divine protection.

Seeing that the fight seems to be nearing an end, Carric charges in, spear leveled toward the Kobold Dragonshield. His spear catches the kobold in the gut, not quite finishing it, but clearly leaving it on the verge of death.

The dragonshield slowly raises his sword arm. He takes two steps towards Gutwrench and attempts to stab at him. His movments are slowed by his many injuries however and Gutwrench easly steps aside. The kobold, carried the by momentum of his attack falls to the ground.... never to rise again.

When I get home I'll post xp and treasure, feel free to rp as much as you like and give me a Ready! When you are ready to continue down the road to Winterhaven.

Chest heaving with a sigh of relief, Avien slides the sweat coated handle of his warhammer into it`s loop holster at his belt. Sliding his shield back onto the carrying hook designed onto the back portion of his plate armour, he walks off slowly in search of his pack, preparing to begin wrapping wounds in gauze and administer battlefield style first aid, as he had been trained to do. Looking over his shoulder at his companions he can`t help but chuckle at their appearance. The two other companions least likely to come out of a conflict unbloodied, the rogue and caster, are relatively unharmed, and yet the loud mouthed gnome and quiet sentinel bear multiple wounds. Shaking his large head in amusement, he takes a deep breath, relishing each moment of his continued life.

As the last of the Kobolds fell to the ground, the world began to settle down for Alzor. Having never been trained for caring for combat wounds, Alzor was glad he didn't take any hits in the battle. Looking around he saw that his new companions though taking some hits were all going to be alright. After a conflict like that Alzor felt as if the battle brought the group closer and can't help but smile as he continues to look around. Though wanting to get back on the road quickly, Alzor decides its best to first look through the Kobolds for anything useful or valuable and help his companions with their wounds if needed.

Each player is rewarded 95xp!
Each player receives 7sp!

The party picks through the kobolds they through all the items in a small pile in the centre of the road. Among the items carried by the kobolds where a dagger and sling, 2 ceramic pots the size of a small stone marked with red dye dot and another pot marked with a white dot. A collection of poorly made Spears and Javelins (5 of each) where also found on the kobolds. Finally two small short swords where found on the two dragonshields.

Re: Keep on the Shadowfell

Upon seeing his foes fall to the ground, Gutwrench lets out a loud holler. "Whooo!! Did you see that? Hey, Scaly! You see that? That guy was all like 'We crush little man!' and I was all-"

At this point, Gutwrench extends both hands in front of him and begins drawing them back, whilst simultaneously thrusting his hips forward. He walks about all of the kobold bodies, hollering and celebrating the party's great victory, before he reaches the charred bones of the poor kobold that he so mercilessly melted. Before he can continue his vulgar celebration, Gutwrench loses his balance and falls beside the bones. "Woah. I think... I think I need to sit down for a moment," he says while struggling to catch his breath after the beating he took during the battle.

While sitting and breathing, he looks at the bones and says, "Hey pal... you look a little burnt out!" before cackling maniacally.

With a smile, he pulls the skull out of the pile of bones and picks off a few pieces of burnt flesh.

"I like this guy! Can I keep him, fellas?"

While catching his breath, Gutwrench uses 3 healing surges to reach full health.

As the last kobold fell, Carric let out a deep breath. He felt gratified by their success, and his companion's apparent competence in a fight (most of the time at any rate), but still somewhat troubled by the kobold's apparent organisation. He had often heard of kobolds being used as footsoldiers by more dangerous creatures. Could this "Irontooth" have something to do with Douven Stahl's disappearance? Perhaps one of the kobold's was carrying something that could serve as a clue to he---

"--What is the gnome doing with that skull?"

Having noted that his allies were attending to their own wounds. He laughed, a rich, multitoned sound that seemed to come from the surroundings more than his mouth. After all, as vulgar as the gnomes actions were, the purely outrageous persona that exuded from his tiny frame was hard not to take merriment from. Rummaging through the dye pots and weapons scavanged from the Kobolds corpses, his own thoughts marched in tandem with Carrics own. Who/what is this Irontooth? and if he had the ability to set organize watches of Kobolds, how would Uncle Douven have handled it?

Finding no steel worth taking and having little use for the pots, he stood, washing his hands of dust and blood with the contents of a waterskin before squirting the last drops onto his face to cool down. Quickly inventorying his own gear, and checking his armor straps, he turned to the caravan master and nodded his assent that he is ready to continue onwards.

"You know, you little ankle biter, its nice that you've found company equal both in your size and intellect, but we'd best be continuing to Winterhave." muttered "Scaly" in a decidedly superior tone of voice before starting to continue the slow trek forwards.
